Greg McGowan

Greg McGowan is a record producer, engineer, and multi-instrumentalist living in Charleston, West Virginia.

From the pop and punk of his youth to the Americana and reggae of today, Greg is no stranger to the ever-evolving genres of music. Music is his passion and that passion started at a young age. Since before the creation of his band Time and Distance in 2003, Greg has spent time chasing his musical dream across the country while simultaneously recording and releasing albums.

Throughout Greg’s musical journey, his passion for recording, production, and live sound has consistently grown. Always evolving his talent, Greg not only recorded early songs from his youth but recorded with other local bands as well. His reputation for recording and his quality of live sound quickly made him a staple in the West Virginia live music scene.

It was this evolution that led Greg to his current home away from home, Rose City Recording. With its name paying homage to the city he’s called home for decades, Rose City Recording is the culmination of Greg’s multifaceted musical career and experiences. There are many local studios in the world, but few have the depth of experience and knowledge one may find at Rose City.

If you’re looking to check out some of Greg’s engineering or production work with Rose City, look no further than the likes of Fletchers Grove, Marde Brooks, Beggars Clan, Walter Debarr, The Jerks, and Odie & I. In addition, Greg has been involved with songwriting and jingle work for various artists and companies, including gas station chain phenom Sheetz.

In his time outside of Rose City, you can probably guess what someone who is as passionate as he is about music would be doing…making more music! Greg currently plays in regional bands Josh Pantry and Golden, helps manage WV’s premier music venue The World Famous Empty Glass, runs live sound for local events and concerts, and continues to be a West Virginia music scene staple by showing up and supporting other artists.
